There’s something about the trees…That’s what I thought when I woke up in the car after a 9-hour drive from Virginia, as I stared out the window at the quiet, peaceful squares, glowing in the dim, evening light, for the first time. And that’s what I thought for years to come, after I moved to Savannah and later graduated from The Savannah College of Art and Design, as I set out into the world to start my career. I was forever drawn back to the city that gave so much to me, and it seemed there was always one constant – a protector and keeper of the past, present and future – radiating with hope from the heart of the city; it has always been the trees.
Named after Savannah, GA’s original nickname, Forest City of The South™, founded in 2019, features Savannah, her Urban Forest and many visual and historical aspects of The Low Country. We not only seek to better understand the importance and significance of the trees, including their great attributes and role in our lives and well-being, but we seek to better understand our past, our people, how we have evolved, and how we can contribute to the great future ahead. Like the acorn, it is our mission to spread a message of hope.
Finally, we cannot do this journey without you. Your support and encouragement will help this project grow. Handmade greeting cards, featuring historic sites and local scenery, are currently available in our online shop, which is our way of giving back, as we offer you a chance to pay it forward. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Savannah Tree Foundation, so that we can help preserve Savannah’s extraordinary trees for many generations to come. Thank you for stopping by, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
